This wrap is made from soft supple organic hemp jersey knit. It is lightweight and very comfortable. Hemp Jersey is similar in weight to cotton jersey but is three times stronger and has a unique grippy texture and is a stretchy wrap.
These wraps are all hand dyed by yours truly just as our Pea in a Pod Pouches are. I gave up on searching high and low for fabrics I like when I discovered I could just dye my own. We are now offering several lengths due to popular demand. Jersey wraps are 24" wide, have hemmed edges. The ends are tapered into gentle contoured curves and the middle is marked with an inside tag. Some wraps are marked by a distinct inside pattern.
This wrap is all about color. In fact, as I was thinking about tying something around myself, my initial thought was that it better be really pretty, else why bother? These wraps look and feel like clothing and will only be offered in several styles from tie dyes, batiks, hand painted, color washes and some solids. We want each wrap to be as unique as the person wearing it. That, and I don't like creating the same thing twice. I am always looking for new ideas and inspirations.
Babywearing is always a means to get you noticed in a crowd so we are taking this one step farther by making wraps that are equally as striking as babywearing itself.

The Hot Mama wrap is very versatile accommodating a baby from newborn to toddler. You can use it for a variety of positions with great support, and the stretch of the hemp jersey is just an added bonus especially for beginners just getting used to wraps. Carry positions include cradle, kangaroo, tummy to tummy, hip and on your back.. A wrap distributes baby's weight evenly onto your back, waist and shoulders so baby feels lightweight. . The Hot Mama wrap has enough support that you can use many different ties, so there is a learning curve but practice is the key. Both fabrics are unbelievably cool in hot climates.
Hemp Jersey wraps work well for infants to toddlers approximately 25 pounds depending on positioning.

Sizing
5.5m (6 yds)This is the standard size of most stretchy wraps such as Moby and Hug a Bub. Recommended if you are tall, plus size, have a large bust, or you like a lot of tail showing. With a stretchy wrap, I have found that less is more. These wraps stretch out with use and a 6yd wrap can easily grow another foot.
4.8m (5.25yds) Recommended if you are under 180lbs and/or 5'8" for all carry positions. May be overwhelming for someone under 5'4" and 150lbs. If you are smaller than this, size down.
4.2m (4.5yds) This size will fit any size person wanting to carry their baby in the hip, cross cradle, rucksack, and cradle carry. It will fit someone under 180lbs and under 5'8" for the short cross carry. FWIW, I am 5'4", 140lbs and can do ALL carries with this size but am tying it into the tails. Less is more, if you are similar in size, go with this size.
3.7m (4 yds)This size works well for the very simple short ties. This size makes a WONDERFUL hip carrier and the tie for this is super easy to learn and does not cut off leg circulation. Will also fit most for a rucksack, strap and cradle carry. You won't be lost in this fabric but you may not be able to do some ties. If you are a petite size 4 or 6, you might be able to do all positions in this size. Take this to the beach! Check out the Hip Cross Carry and other variations perfect for this size wrap.
What makes our wraps unique?
Well, besides that each one is a one of a kind, most of our wraps have a distinct design at the center of them. This makes grabbing your wrap and getting it tied on quickly simple because the center of your wrap looks distinctly different from the rest of it.
